There seem to be two major components to the notion of Best time to Buy tickets:
the identification of a best price which largely relies on demand-time mechanics
amongst other things; and outcome of making users aware of said 'best time'.
Users that come later than the best time can only learn for the next event while
those that come before or on can be shown a score or a percent improvement on
the current price that can be safely expected with some confidence. From a
system design pov, the aforementioned 2 broad components can be represented as a
Price calculating engine and A live streamer. A third essential component is
live data input stream that feeds in parameters like clicks on the site, ticket
selectors, tickets in cart, etc. which will update the price and reflect on the
UI with the score. Other parameters like 'these many people are viewing the
tickets', etc. can be shown for better judgement calls. Kafka or similar
livestreaming platforms would have importance here, REST APIs for fetch, etc.
and optimal price calculator first needs an algorithm or some ruleset and
finally good enough compute.
